Fun day at San Diego Oasis with some eager ladies for a Zentangje Greeting Card Class.
We tangled an original  3.5 x 3.5 tile and used a Bijou tile 2x2   (introducing some garden tangles) and completed a greeting card using Zentangje patterns and a hint of watercolor pencils and blending brush.

 Beautiful cards ladies !!

P.S.  Thanks for your help with set-up and retail store Sharon !!!

Kindegarten Wednesday

Today, Susan Bowden and I were lucky enough to visit a kindergarten class in Escondido CA, We taught 16 kindergarteners (plus two helpers/assistants) the Zentangle art method.     I love five year olds. Corey, the best kindergarten teacher I've ever met, loved all her students art work. Now they can take their "fish" home and share Zentangle with their parents. I'd love to see their parents faces to see what great art work their children designed today at school and it was so easy.

The best part of the morning was when the assistant helpers (they were suppose to walk around and help the younger kids) sat down at the tables with the five year olds and started making a fish too because that's how interesting Zentangle is.  You just want to try it also.

Ms. Janet (CZT) and Ms Chapparone (Teacher)

Look at all the amazing "fish" hands the kids designed.
Today they learned that anyone can be an artist with the Zentangle Art Method.

All the kids received a Zentangle Apprentice Certificate for their wonderful work today
Thank you kids for being good listeners.

Today I was impressed with all the five years olds.  They rock !!!

Certified Zentangle Teachers (L) Janet Masey and (R) Susan Bowden.
Thanks for helping Susan !!!

It Never Rains in Southern California

It never rains in Southern California... except today !!!  It's so exciting for San Diego.  After the biggest thunder/lightening storm I've ever heard or seen here yesterday morning,  now we have a pretty good down pour - halleluja   Our drought has taken its tole on our lawns.   This time the rain is actually getting the ground wet and raining more than 5 minutes. For those of you that take rain for granted....   you probably don't understand what all the hup bub is about in this post...
My 27 plumeria plants are sooooooooooooooooooooooooo happy. Just a sip of water a couple times a week just isn't enough, but that is what SD water says they can have.

Ahhhhh water !!!

So what does one do on a Sunday afternoon and it's raining?   ZENTANGLE !!!

This is a tangleations with two patterns (tangles)- Cadent and Betweed.

Beyond Basic Zentangle Class

What fun teaching this group of 55+ at San Diego Oasis today. We learned about string theory, different Zentangle tiles to work on (3.5 x, apprentice 4.5 x, black, tan, and Bijou (2x).  We learned and tried some tangleations  (two tangle together) .  Great tiles great fun.

Tripoli, Cadent, Cubine, Lokomotive practiced 1st.

So quiet as the ladies practice the new tangles.  Ahhhh Zen (tangle)

Monotangle Tripoli tangle on Bijou tile (2 x 2)...

Worked on an apprentice tile today to show bigger isn't scary.
(wait till they see the Opus Tile - that might scare them away at a newbie class)

This is my Step Mom - Sharon...  she is my assistant wth the most'est.
She can set up a document camera/projector and lay out a retail table better/faster than anyone I know.  What would I do without her?  Always a date for lunch/dinner to say "Thank You".

P.S.  She is my next door neighbor too, lucky me

We used Hollibaugh tangle for our string, Cadent tangelation with Betweed (loved that), Bales tangleation with Printemps, Cubine, and Nymph.

Always smiling faces at the end of class......  Thumbs up ladies !!!

Diva challenge #226

Guest blogger Katie Crommett, CZT reminded us to simplify life
and enjoy the moment instead of rushing onto the next activity which I fall victim all the time.

My tile took about 3 minutes to draw but let me relax for those 3 minutes with the Zen part of Zentangle. I chose Crescent Moon and Nymph tangles then aura. The bubbles were embelishments.  Ahhhhhh I'm so relaxed before my busy day. Thanks Katie !!!

Special "two, two, two" classes in one".

Special class at my home Sunday 7/12 @ 10:00

Thursday Tangles

First tile

Last night I taught an intimate Introduction to Zentangle Art Method class at Beverly's Fabric in San Diego, California.  After learning the history and philosophy that the cofounders of Zentangle Art method -Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas taught at each of their 4day seminar in Providence, Rhode Island to become Certified Zentangje Teachers - the ladies ventured into patterns (tangles) and Leta and Jayne feel in love this evening with the art form.

Rick and Maria took the thought process out of art so you can spend more time enjoying the process of art instead of the "what should I draw" part of art.  Zentangle art looks complicated and intricate like you spent all day drawing yet, can be completed in 15-20 minutes.    Thanks for joining me last night ladies.

Have you started your Zentangje Journey yet???

2nd tile

I taught the exact same tangles to each student and I love that each tile is individual  to that person.  These two tangles are Between and Zander (doesn't Zander make a great border?)
