I know most people don't excited about rain but WHOLY COW - IT'S RAINING IN SAN DIEGO. Honestly, we only get about 1/2 inch a year if that... The weather is saying we could get seven days of rain (hopefully light). Our ground has no drainage and can't handle a deluge of water.
Mandala meets Zendala.
Zendala is a transfusion of Zentangle and Mandala. The word mandala is
from the classical Indian language of Sanskirt (translated meaning circle).
They represent the cosmos, a view of the universe from the human perspective. Mandala
is a circular art design that is believed to have started as early as 700 BC as
a spiritual symbol in Hinduism and Buddhism.
Eight brave-dedicated tanglers dragged themselves out in the rain today and joined at me at Kensington Library in San Diego, for a fall Kandy Korn Zendala. Three of the participants, a husband and wife duo and an enthusiastic wide eye student were introduced to their first enounter with The Zentangle Method. So fun to see the "ah ha" moments folks go "wow, this is amazing, when is the next class?".
I pre-brushed the circular watercolor paper with three fall colors and drew a pre-string Zendala circle to leave some time for folks to use color pencils in class after tangling.
Coloring the final piece takes so much time, so many folks decided to take home and finish the coloring. Didn't they all come out great..................... I love the different "linked" chain tangle around the outside.
