New Tangle by Janet Masey CZT "Kinda Korny"

Tanglepatterns.com is a one-stop does it all for tangles and Zentangle information.  Linda Farmers
does an excellent job publishing new tangles that are submitted to her as well as posting official Zentangle patterns.  I recently submitted one of my tangles and it was accepted into the world of tanglepatterns.com.

Welcome my tangle:  Kinda Korny

I'm a retired hairdresser of 45 years in San Diego, California. In 2012, one of my clients was processing highlights under the dryer and during her down time was "tangling". I asked her what she was doing and she started to tell me her newfound love of Zentangle and had just been certified to teach. Right away I planned a group of eight friends at my house and had Rho Densmore teach a class. After the class, a high school friend of many years, Susan Bowden, both looked at each other and said, "l love it and want to become certified". Let's do this together.

It took an entire year to finally get into a class in Rhode Island, but finally, in June 2014, I became a Certified Zentangle Teacher. Since then, I have taught throughout San Diego city/county at many different locations. My favorite part in sharing Zentangle is the "ah ha" moment when each participant sees what I experienced in that first Zentang[e class.

I've taught at over 50 different libraries in San Diego. Also, SD Zoo summer camps, Hospice, SD Oasis, Community Center, Recovery Solution Summit, Psychiatric Recovery Center,  Addiction Recovery Festival, International Yoga Festival, SD Schools, Teachers
In-Service, special interest groups, fabric stores, Hobby Lobby, homes/ churches as well as private classes.

Most classes I have taught is usually a class of 20 or more. The Zoo summer Camps had
75 students in each class. Many counselors came by the auditorium to see how one person
         could
keep 75 young kids quiet and focused for 1.5 hours.

My friend, Susan, was so grateful for finding Zentangle because her mom had just passed away and she was missing her best friend. She told me that

Zentangle brought her life back from the loss of Mom. Usually someone from my classes comes up after and shares what Zentangle has brought to them that day. These stories are why I teach. Meditative and healing art method and I'm proud to be part of this group.

After 11 years of becoming certified, I still teach each month and can't wait to share my next class.

Janet explains how she came up with Kinda Korny:

I came up with this tangle making a fall Zendala for my class. Using the 'Nzeppel tangle technique and adding "candy corn" image, created this fun little tangle, who doesn't think of candy corn in the fall?
