Zentangle for Christmas Eve Day

My official last Zentangle class to teach for 2017 was Christmas Eve morning, near Torrey Pines Beach, San Diego, Cali.  I was asked to teach a private class for Fred, Cindy (his Mom), his daughter (Emma), and son (Sam).  They were visiting just for the holidays in San Diego.  It is hard for me to turn down an opportunity to share Zentangle.

The four family members learned about the corner dots/border/string and tangles. We shaded and initialed our art and appreciated what we created.   During the process they relaxed, and got into a state of well-being - healing art.  Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh   Who doesn't need that during the hectic holidays?

When Granpa and Mom came back to the condo, the family impressed them with the art they created.  One of my favorite classes is a multi-generation Zentangle class.  Zentangle will help a family have a great bonding experience to do together.    Zentangle is easy, any age can complete.  What a delightful family.  Thank you for allowing me into your home-away-from-home to share Zentangle.

What about you?  Make a New Years Resolution to start your Zentangle journey. If you are in the San Diego area, check out my classes coming or email me:  maseyjanet@gmail.com and I'll teach a class at your event.

                                              Let's schedule a class!

  Great job family !!!

Allied Gardens/Benjamin Library - Teens find Zentangle Olaf

With the holidays right around the corner and the weather in San Diego, California in December in the 80's....  I just had to bring a little "FROZEN" to my Zentangle class today for the teens afterschool event at Allied Gardens Library. There were nine of us and a librarian associate join us also.

With only an hour time slot for class, I opted out of teaching the kids how to "trace" Olaf, and decided to let them have fun with coloring their project with watercolor pencils.  How much fun was this?

I told the kids I had a candy cane for the winner of the "most interesting" art. At the end of class, they put their art work together and each student choose one picture they liked.  I thought they all put a gallant effort into their art piece. How can you choose just one?
THEY ALL GOT A CANDY CANE.

Thanks to the library for sharing snacks during class and for inviting me again to share Zentangle with the kids.

P.S.  Zentangle isn't just for kids... adults love it too. Try it, you'll like it.

La Mesa Library Zentangle Greeting Card

Image result for la mesa library images
What a great class today at La Mesa Library near San Diego, California.  This was my last Zentangle Greeting Card Class for 2017.  I already have lots of new card ideas for next year. I know, don't hurry the season.

When designing the card to teach for class, I googled all the poinsettia pics and tangles and came up with this tangelation (variation) to incorporate for my design.  The best part was the string of lights for the border.  We used watercolor pencils to define the objects.

Enjoy using Zentangle to create your own greeting cards throughout the year  - not just during the holidays.

Wonderful to meet new "tanglers" and see some familiar faces. The ladies did a great job.  Thank you for joining me today and thanks La Mesa Library for inviting me again to share The Zentangle Method.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS Y'ALL

Pacific Beach Library gets Tangled Up

I headed west today to Pacific Beach for my first class at Pacific Beach Library in San Diego, California.  Best part, a short drive from my house.  I have driven past this library all my life and never noticed it was a library and a huge one at that.  The branch manager, Christina, was so friendly.  Great community room to teach Zentangle Method and about 22 students came to learn about Zentangle.  A couple familiar faces, but most were newbee's wanting to know what "Zentangle" is.
Today was not an Introduction to Zentangle Method class, but a ZIA (Zentangle inspired Art).  With the holiday season upon us, today's class we created a holiday greeting card.

Always fun to admire your fellow "tanglers" work. Pacific Beach Library rocks.

Holiday Are Here at Oasis - La Mesa

HAPPY HOLIDAY

As we begin the holidays in San Diego, Cali, we came together at Oasis (classes for over 55) in La Mesa.

I always encourage folks to create their own greeting throughout the year and especially in the holidays.  Using the Zentangle Method, you never have to buy another greeting card again. This is just one of the classes for Zentangle greeting cards I have already taught this season.

Good job ladies........  Thanks for spending the afternoon with me and tangling.

Friends, Holiday and Zentangle

What a delightful day at my friend, Carol's home today.  We were joined by Cathy, Debbie (her sister from Texas), and Rebecca for an Introduction to Zentangle Method class.  Four folks that had no clue what Zentangle Method was and they still came eager to learn "what all the talk is about" Zentangle?

Before we get into the class, take a look at Carol's cool dining table.  Yes, it is a piano.  Not a real piano, but so real looking, you had to try to play "heart and soul" when you saw it.   Isn't it cool?

Zentangle is a easy-to-learn art method that creates beautiful images by drawing structured patterns.  During the drawing process, you relax, focus, and get into a state of well-being - healing art.
First we learned the basic Zentangle tile - abstract, with string and patterns (tangles).

Then we moved onto our second project - a Holiday Greeting Card with the Zentangle Method in mind.  We call it ZIA (Zentangle inspired at).

Look at their faces below, when I asked how they liked the Zentangle class?  Always smiles.

Thanks to Carol for hosting class, ladies for joining us,  and Happy Holidays.
