ZOOM Zentangle Love Birds Class

2/20/21, we Zoomed into a Zentangle class with Love Birds as the project.  This month is my wedding anniversary of 20 years.  Hence, the love bird class.

This project we call a ZIA (Zentangle Inspired art)
because typically Zentangle art is abstract - no up or down.
Being in San Diego, we love having folks from out of town join class.
Barbara is joining us from San Jose, California and
Kristin is joining us from Indianapolis, Indiana.
Welcome everyone!

Using the Zentangle Method, we used the outline (string) of two birds and a heart to add tangles to pop the picture. Whether you choose to color or not, the tangles make each piece come to life.  If you choose black and white without color, add some shading to add that third color (gray) on your art.

good job Susan!
Ohh ahh Devon

Love your color choice Judy
Beautiful Ursula

Each Zentangle class you will learn some new tangles, art ideas,
embellishments, and new ways to enhance your art.

Next classes are:
3/6 - Birdhouses
3/20 - VW Bus
4/10 - Introduction to the Zentangle Method
4/24 COVID Mask Tangle

Zoom Zentangle Valentine Card Class

Can't believe it is February - the days just run into each other with this pandemic.  The only savior for me is teaching Zentangle Zoom classes.

Today we created Valentine Card with the Zentangle Method, to send a love one we haven't seen or a family/friend that doesn't have anyone living with them. Sometimes a smile is all someone really needs.  A personalize card brings a smile to everyone that receives it.

Pics are as clear as being there, but you get the idea.  Everyone received the same instruction but a all different in their own way because we are individuals.

Fun class whooo hoo.  Check my blog calendar for the next exciting Zoom class.

This is a gee whiz part of the sharing time of our art today.  Peggy asked earlier if her daughter Amanda could join us today.  I said of course.  Amanda was a little late for class.  No problem.  At end of class she was hesitant but finally held her card up and it said "BABY DADDY".  The other participants in the class new Amanda and we all said "what does that mean?"  She had a great big grin on her face and said - "I'm going to have a baby".  We all shouted and it was so exciting to be on the foreground of the big news. Thanks Amanda for sharing with us all.

Healing Art through the Zentangle Method

The Gift of Zentangle

Since 2014, teaching the Zentangle Method, I've heard many students share how Zentangle changed their lives.  Here are just a few:

Susan - I was depressed after my mother passed.  She was my best friend.  Thank you for introducing me to Zentangle. It gave me a new focus.

Jayne - Thank you.  Zentangle got me thru pain management of two knee replacements.  During my recovery, I tangled 14 pumpkins for the doc's and nurses.

Donna - Thank you.  During my battle with breast cancer, my Zentangle journal was the best therapy I had.

Lauren - Thank you.  When asked to take your class, I thought I couldn't continue art because of my essential tremors.  You told me that tangling helps tremors and eye-hand-coordination.  I was surprised that I could "tangle" and my art looked fantastic.  I began making birthday/holiday cards for my entire family with a personal flair to them.  One visit to my doctors office, she said "your tremors are better".  I told her about Zentangle.  Doc said to continue - it seems to be helping.

Sue - Sue started crying after her first Zentangle class.  She said "thank you".  When I was in elementary school, a teacher told me my art was terrible and never do it again.  I am 65 years old and this is the first art I've ever tried to create and it is beautiful.

Mom of 8 year old autistic student -  OMG, where can I get my son more Zentangle classes?  I've never seen him sit so still and finish a project.  Thank you.

Counselor at San Diego Zoo summer camp - The kids told me their favorite class at camp this summer was your Zentangle classes.

Directors of Education at San Diego Zoo - I had to come to class to see how you get 125 students in  each class to sit so quiet for 45 minutes.

Nine year old student - Her Mom told after she took my Zentangle class, she is know as the girl that does art at school.

Debbie -  Thank you.  Can't wait to bring Zentangle to my 3rd grade class.  This will help kids with ADD/ADHD to focus and quiet down.

Zentangle had been proved to benefit:

Stress reduction
Anxiety
Depression
Insomnia
Fear of flying
Lowering blood pressure
Pain Management
Bereavement
PTSD
ADD/ADHD
Essential tremors/Parkinson's Disease
Cancer/addiction therapy
Anger Management
Negative self-image
Confidence
Self Esteem

Currently research is of Zentangle and the effects it has on bi-polar and Schizophrenia patients.
When I teach kids, I say "if you are sad/mad/bored - try Zentangle"

When will your healing art begin?
