Denver Library Zentangle Snowflake Greeting Card

December 11th, I traveled by Zoom to Denver, Colorado for a Zentangle class.  Kids from 5-12 years old joined me hosted by Arapahoe Library. There was a hint of snow in Denver left on the ground from past snowfall while I was here in San Diego, California with a warm day of 75 degrees.  I still have a bucket list of having a "white" Christmas someday.  Usually San Diego Christmas days are around 75-80 degrees.

The librarian's Heather and Ashley hosted our class, and we choose a Zentangle snowflake greeting card as our project.  The library does a very nice job of material handouts for the kids. The kids pick up project packet prior to class and then join me on the day of class online with Zoom:

I taught some basic tangles for the class:  Inapod, Printemps, Crescent Moon, Poke Root and Tipple,

Thanks to the Arapahoe Library for having another Zoom class for the kids.
Kids as well as adults and seniors love Zentangle because there are no rules, no erasers, no mistakes.  Every age can create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns.

This is an example of a typical Zentangle tile.  Usually abstract - no up, no down.
When will you start your Zentangle journey?

Holmes Elementary Earth Day and Zentangle

April 2023, Earth Day, we celebrated in Susan Mueller's 4th grade class at Holmes Elementary School in San Diego, California.

Mrs. Mueller asked me to share Zentangle again with her class. I thought it would be fun to join Zentangle with an Earth Day project   The kids did a great job with five tangles:
Betweed, Rainking, Florz, Knightsbridge, a special beating heart.

I love teaching the kids Zentangle.  They are always excited and it leaves them wanting more.
The teachers love Zentangle because it is a great way to settle kids after recess/lunch and is a hour of quite, calm, relaxing time for both teacher and kids.

Here are some of the art pieces we completed today.  Didn't they do a great job?   The kids even gave me a beautiful card that they all signed.  Thanks again class room #7.

Dragonflies at Arapahoe Library

Dragonfly Zentangle ZIA (Zentangle Inspired Art) came to the Denver library today.  About 42 kids ages 5-12 join me to create a fun project.

One cute little boy shared a true fact:  Dragonflies were around before the dinosaurs.

Before dinosaurs and birds came on the scene, dragonflies were king, with wingspans of about two and a half feet. That was 300 million years ago, during the late Paleozoic period. Despite all the changes that have taken place since then, dragonflies are still around.

While modern dragonflies have wingspans of about two to five inches, fossil dragonflies have been found with wingspans of up to two feet!

Snowy Denver Arapahoe Library for Zentangle

Another fun class at Arapahoe library in Denver, Colorado.  Thirty to fifty kids and I created a ZIA (Zentangle Inspired Art) with a fun snowman for the season.  My Zoom class came from San Diego. We actually had a rainy day in San Diego which is very unusual for Southern California. I guess you could say it was "our snow day".

After learning four tangles (Keeko, Tipple, Bales, and Printemps), we added a little color to snowman scarf and called it a day after our hour-long class.

Thanks to Ashley and Kara for hosting a fun class for the kids. Happy tangling to all.

Next class at this library is 1/17/23.
