Zentangle and a BBQ Lunch

One of my favorite classes to teach Zentangle Art Method to is - KIDS.  Today I taught my oldest Grandaughter, Chloe's, 4th grade class at Holmes Elementary School in San Diego, California.  When the kids came in from recess, the room was filled with soft slack key Hawaii music in the background.   You could almost hear the waves rolling into the beach as they began their Zentangle journey. This art method is a great way to calm down kids when they come back into the classroom.

For children, this new unique art method is fabulous because there are no mistakes, no erasers.  If you can draw a straight line and circle, you can complete any Zentangle project.  KIDS LOVE ZENTANGLE (psst... so do adults).

Art can be intimidating.  Zentangle was designed to take the hard out of art and I prove that every time I teach a class.  Each class leaves you thirsty for more.

Today I introduced the basic Zentangle art.  We drew a basic "tile" with three "tangles".  Then, with the kiddo's, I like to apply the tangles to something fun.  The teacher, Mrs. Sipe wanted the kids to draw a peacock.  Below you can see the before and after pic of Mr. Peacock. Twenty nine happy faces when we finished.

The best part was it was BARBECUE DAY at Holmes School.  After class, Chloe and I had BBQ with all the other kids.  Yeehaw !!! I love me some BBQ.

I took this picture of the peacock last weekend at the San Diego Zoo.
Aren't they pretty?  He really put on a show of us.

This is one of my three grandaughter, Ms. Chloe.....  isn't she beautiful?

The kids always give a "THUMBS UP" to Zentangle.

Favorite Place To Tangle

My favorite place to tangle is in my own backyard in San Diego, California.
A sunny day, sitting on my lanai with me and my two fur babies, that is my happy place.
Where is your happy place to tangle?

Zentangle At Hawthorne Elementary School, San Diego, California

Mrs. Ayikpa contacted me to teach a Zentangle class to her first graders.  Now how can you turn that offer down?   I love teaching the kids because they LOVE Zentangle when they see how easy it is.
I always tell them, THERE ARE NO MISTAKES IN ZENTANGLE (your pattern just takes a different turn).

This first grade class was very enthusiastic to learn a brand new, unique art method.  I try to incorporate the Zentangle art project that I teach the kids that is relevant to their current curriculum they are working on.

Life science was the topic at hand, so hence..... the dragon fly.  All 23 students enjoyed applying the patterns (tangles - in Zentangle terminology) to Mr. Dragonfly and felt very proud to make an outline come to life  by simply drawing structured patterns.  Wouldn't you agree?  So simple first graders can complete.

Thanks Mrs. Ayikpa for introducing Zentangle to your kids.  They will be able to apply this art method in many avenues in class - journaling, calming down after recess/lunch, in between test to clear their mind, opening a door to talk to other kids they might not have befriended when they share their work with the other kids, and also in their life outside of school.

                                                                Good job kiddo's !!!

I Am The Diva - Weekly Challenge #312

Weekly Challenge #312: "Coffee, Tea, or Me!"

This week's challenge is to use coffee, tea, wine, watery paint, or some other liquid: Spilled, dripped, sprayed, blotted, or ringed on your tile to create a string.

I looked thru my cupboards and found some pomegrante tea bags.  Funny how it came out grayish.
I choose to tangle around the spill.  Psssst.  Added a few blue strokes to add color.

Do You See Patterns Everywhere?

This was the first "dress" I've seen
while surfing the Internet looking at Zentangle artwork.
I personally can't stop buying "tangled" clothes since I became a Certified Zentangle Teacher.
Couldn't resist sharing this girls adorable face and outfit.
LOVE IT !!!

Monday Zentangle Club Day in March

What a beautiful day in Rancho Bernardo, California, at the Rancho Bernardo Winery.
Several CZT's and tangle friends meet to tangle together.
We decided to explore grids as a background.  Here are several of the pics I took -
some tiles are still in the making.

Sunday Funday

After eating breakfast at La Jolla, California's favorite café -  Harry's, with my hubby, Tom Tom.  We decided to head to the Cove by the beach.  What a beautiful day walking along the walk.  One of my favorite places to visit.  The seals, the pelican's, the ocean breeze.  A favorite place to go.

After spending the day at the beach.... I was inspired by the day and created a ocean Zentangle.

Saturday Art & Poetry (and Zentangle Class) at the Lakeside Library

What a gorgeous day in Lakeside, California.  A little town outside of San Diego.
The Lakeside library gave out the awards today for the contest they held for the:

Art & Poetry Festival

I saw some amazing art and heard some beautiful poetry.

The special gift for the teens was to have me teach a Zentangle class after the award ceremony.
Since this area is very rural, I choose a ZIA (Zentangle Inspired Art).
We filled our string - just happen to look like a horse with tangles.

These are two brothers, the older boy was one of the winners for his poetry.
His "Wish" Poem was amazing.

One of the amazing results of Zentangle Art is that even though these boys are different in age,
both of their pictures look similar in ability.  That is how easy Zentangle Art Method is.
Zentangle lets everyone create beautiful images by drawing "circles and straight lines..
Beautiful works boys.

Good job kids (and couple adults)

I will be teaching an Introduction to Zentangle Art Method at Lakeside Library June 17th.
 Come join me.

If you have a group that would like a Zentangle Class,
Please ask me and we can design a class for your event.
