Zentangle at San Diego Zoo

Here in San Diego we have the world famous San Diego Zoo.
There are so many beautiful/interesting animals to look at but I have to say,
I think the peacock is the most beautiful to watch as they parade around the zoo
free to roam about the guest.
A perfect image to Zentangle, don't you think?

One of Many Reasons That I LOVE Zentangle - TGIF ya'll.

I am a hairdresser by education...  and everyone thinks I can draw because I'm "artistic".
Just for the record.. I went to school for a year to learn how to cut hair.
It did not come naturally.
This is a picture of what a Hawaiian girl would look like before I found Zentangle.

Thanks to the Zentangle Method, I can officially call this tile below, "art".
Trace an outline of a hula girl playing a ukulele (I dabble in that myself)
and apply patterns. Anyone can do it even me !!!
Thank you Zentangle (Rick and Maria)

Get Well

One of my clients had knee replacement surgery.  This is a "get well soon" card I made for her.
Genie is a nurse at Children's Hospital. I hope all the folks understand the
hours nurses stand on their feet (hence the knee replacement)
to nurse them back to health, especially for the children.
May your hubby be the best nurse for you while you recover !!!
Thank you to all the nurses that care for us.

New Marker Pens

I purchases some new pens today.  Oil based paint DecoColor pens.
Tried doing whole tile in just color pens and not starting out with black outline.
Love the pens, they glide over the paper so evenly (does have strong odor - use in ventilated area)
Felt at the completion of tile,  I needed to add some black to give it some definition.
Even though they say the tips are fine, nothing compares to the Micron pen.

Can't Stop Drawing Flowers

Enjoy a ray of sunshine today.

Weekly Diva Challenge #169: Circles

Today in America, we are celebrating Memorial Day.
To honor all the fallin' soldiers that died fighting for our country to keep us free.
I'd like to thank all of them who lost their lives and know they won't be forgotten.

My first thought about this Diva Challenge was I must use a circle tile (mandala).
What better tangle to use for circles than onamato!!!
AND I found out something today I LOVE CIRCLES !!!

Belated Mothers Day

My daughter , Crystal took me out today to celebrate Mothers Day (beings I was out of town
for the actual day) and we had a delicious meal at Outback then we went to a ceramic pottery studio.

I choose a square plate (resembled Zentangle tile) to apply acrylic paint and did one of my tiles
I had previously tangled.  My piece came out very nice but the fun part was that several of the other students and owner where taken by my work.  I got to share Zentangle. I never get tired of sharing.   This is my piece before going into the kiln.   Finished the day with my first Acai Bowl.  Yummy

I'll post the final results when I get my piece back next week.
Fun day with my daughter !!!

Weekly "Diva Challenge: #168

Each week "I Am Diva" post a weekly Diva Challenge with a suggestion of design.
This week suggestion was to use the RAIN pattern.
I took it literally and added my Tangle folk by Billie Lauder.
I love the rain, unfortunately from the song stating "It Never Rains In Southern California"
( 1/2inch a year maybe) we don't get to see rain very often.  Hardly ever !!!

Zentangle Everywhere

And you thought it was just for paper.  I found this on the Internet.
How cool is that?
What can you Zentangle at your house?

May - Sunday Zentangle Club

Susan's beautiful house in La Jolla, California
We all rolled the dice in the official Zentangle Kit and drew the four patterns that came up.
Mist, Flukes, Chartz, and Flux
Same four patterns, four different outcomes.  I love Zentangle.

Zentangle does make a difference

A couple hair appointments ago, I shared the Zentangle Method with a client.
Yesterday, nine weeks after her knee replacement surgery,
she said the pain after surgery was so great,
the only relief she had was while drawing the Zentangle Method.
It helped her cope.

Once again....  Zentangle is more than art.  It's healing.  One stroke at a time !!!

Las Vegas or Bust

I just got back from a weekend in Las Vegas.
The drive from San Diego is about five hours.
This tangle is inspired by the scenery for the duration.
That pretty much sums up the view.

Patterns from the book "The Beauty of Zentangle"
(Up and Down, Rosettes, Keenees, Peacock, Kinet, and Hartz)

Inside Day

San Diego, California usually is in the 70's throughout the year.
Today we are having a heat wave and the temp is in the 90's.
Inside day, we have one room with air conditioning and that's where I am.
 Cool and tangling......

I think this looks like a Indian blanket.

Friday Morning Tangles

Having a hard time with a pattern?  Try doing a "mono" tangle.
Complete a tile with just one pattern and gets lots of practice with that particular pattern.
It helps to get proficient !!!

I started out making braids (Ragz) and my tangle turned into Queen Squid ( hee hee)...
You never know till you finish what your tile will look like.
That's the fun of Zentangle Method.
You don't start with the completed idea in mind - the journey is fun to see where it leads.

Love it or Leave it

Took a stab at some new patterns I've never tried.
Torzon Lace, Spring Blooming, Dandi and Bow Cee on a tan tile.
Do I love this tile?  No, but it was fun to keep learning new patterns.
So little time, so many patterns.

Well what do you know?
I decided  not stop at the above tile, and continued to embellish and shade
and walla.............. I like it !!!
Take a hint from a Michael Jackson song "Don't stop till you get enough".
