First Zentangle Class at Oasis New Location

Today, 6/28/17, was my first Zentangle class at the new location for San Diego Oasis.  What a beautiful art room they provided for us art teachers.  Thank you Oasis.

They have all the latest technology for set for the projector and lots of tables and chairs for students.  As I walked to my classroom, I saw other classes getting ready to start.  The two lecture rooms were filling up, the other classrooms the teachers were preparing for their class.

What a great place to teach Zentangle.  Thank you Oasis for a lovely place to share The Zentangle Method.

This picture was from the grand opening recently.  Wow, about 700 folks.

Our class tiles we "tangled" today.

If you haven't seen their catalog, pick one up at new location, or
go online and see all the amazing classes for folks 50 and up.

Fallbrook Library Teen Zentangle Class 6/26/17

After a lovely drive into north county San Diego yesterday,  through Avocado groves and beautiful country side, I arrived at my destination - Fallbrook Library.  When I arrived and went inside I couldn't believe my eyes.  Hidden away in  such a rural area was the prettiest library I've been to in San Diego.  I have taught Zentangle classes at many wonderful libraries in San Diego over the past year but this library was gorgeous.  From the beautiful art, to the centers of many interests, and the friendly staff.  What a perfect place and day to "tangle".

This class was with the teens of Fallbrook.  They learned the history, the concept and ease of this amazing art method.  After completing a "tile" we ventured into a fun project where we inserted our "tangles" (patterns) into a animal.

Let me describe a typical class.  When students come into room they will hear instrumental Hawaiian slack key music playing softly in the background.  I ask everyone to take a deep breath and start their Zentangle journey.  The rest of the class is quiet as I instruct how to apply structured patterns they will learn.  When you put paper to pen, you get out of your head (healing art or happy place).  That's why Zentangle is called "yoga for the brain".

Thanks for join me today teens and starting your Zentangle journey.

Check out some of the art in the library.  Oh, they had a living roof also.  Such a cool library.

Lakeside Library Tangled Up In Zentangle

Lakeside Library (East County, San Diego, California) got all tangled up in ZENTANGLE ART METHOD 6/17/17.   Guys, kids, adults and seniors joined me to see what Zentangle is all about.
(Love it when boys/guys come to my class.  I think they like it better than girls/women)

This summer,  I will be teaching at about 30 libraries in San Diego (city/county).  Thank you libraries for inviting me to teach Zentangle.   Folks need to know about this wonderful, unique, interesting art method that takes the "hard" out of art.

If you have been intimidated by art in the past - this art method is for you.  If you have said --- I can't draw -  this art method is for you.  If you can draw a circle and a straight line... you can "tangle".

Zentangle is an easy art method that creates beautiful images by drawing structured patterns.  The extra special thing that happens during the process of drawing - you relax, focus and get into sense of well-being - healing art.

Look on my blog home page for a library near you this summer and join me.  The class is no fee to participates.
You can also join me at one of my other locations.  Those two-hour classes come with a fee and materials included.

Grand Opening Oasis La Mesa, San Diego and Fletcher Hills Library Zentangle Class

Wow.  What a big day this was, 6/7/17 for Oasis Lifelong Adventure.  They have been teaching seniors since 1982. A secret gem of San Diego.   Oasis relocated from Mission Valley, SD, and moved into a beautiful facility  in La Mesa, San Diego, to continue the every popular Oasis Lifelong Adventure classes.  Oasis has a dedicated room to Art and it's wonderful.  There were about 700 folks joining me at this grand opening and ribbon cutting.   Great turn out for a special place for folks 50 plus.

Today, I demonstrated one tangle, and we made a bookmark.  I like to leave them "thirsty for more".
My first class at the new location Oasis La Mesa, San Diego  is June 28th.

Today was a busy Zentangle Day  I spent 4 hours at the Oasis Grand Opening and also taught a class at
Fletcher Hills Library that evening.

In the library they had a machine that was new to me.  I keep hearing this "star wars" sound coming from the edge of where I was teaching.  Becky, the library Manger told me it was a 3D printer.  This is one of the items it made during my class I taught.  Super cool !!!

Holmes Elementary get their Zentangle on !!!

Today I revisted for the fourth time, Holmes elementary School in San Diego.  Mrs. Flinn, a 4th grade teacher,  asked to share a life science topic and  "tangle".  The kids all created a beautiful dragonfly.  Awesome job kids !!! Thank you Mrs. Flinn for starting the kids Zentangle journey.  There's no place like Holmes !
