Diva Challenge #174

Hello Diva Challenge  #174 - Superimposing Strings  - place a string on top of another string.
Patterns:  Itsy twisty, Hollibaugh, Paizel, N'zepple, Onomato, Printemps, Flux, Buttercup, Chainlea.
That was a lot of patterns on one tile for me.
Looks stuffy (maybe should of used an apprentice tile 4.5 x 4.5?)
What it reminds me of is San Diego, California commuter traffic. Congested !!!
San Diego is starting to look like Los Angeles, California traffic - the worse I've seen.
The best part is...  it is my day off and I'm HAPPY.

Soft, Curved Lines

...  My organic swirls made me love this tile.

Zendala Day

Today we had Sunday Zentangle Club Day. Using a blank Zendala tile, we cut  paper shaped like tile, to make a snow flake pattern (like when you were a kid) and traced it onto tile. My tile came out good but need to perfect my snowflake cutting. Fun with Susan, Patti, and Elaine. Missed you Rho. Hope the move is going well !!!

It's A String Thang

I had been making ZIA (Zentangle Inspired Art) the last year and after attending my CZT Seminar Training this June,  I realized that it all comes back to the basics...  THE STRING.

Without the string there is so much more thought involved...  the whole reasoning behind the string is to alleviate the thought process to free your mind of creating to let you just feel the process not the outcome.

To recap this basic first step that is so important - you start with a pencil to create the foundation of a tile  .The magic part is that the string usually disappears after you apply the patterns/tangles.  Next time, try closing your eyes and drawing a string.  Ohhhhh  fun.

Jet Lag

Think I'm finally rested up from traveling across the United States from
California to Rhode Island for CZT 14 Seminar.
I'm feeling a renewed love for patterns after being with Rick and Maria.
You can certainly feel the love of their "baby" with each lesson and knowledge they share.
The only thing they ask is that you be respectful of their gift from them to us.
Thank you Maria and Rick !!

Zentangle Seminar Pen Bag

One evening at Zentangle Seminar, we had an extra class of Zentangle on Fabric.
This is my pen bag with my tangles.  You can pretty much put tangles on anything.
On the plane ride home -- Susan and I tangled in the SKYMALL magazine.
I left a message on my pages I decorated... Zentangle - try it !!!

A fun story on the plane out to RI, the woman next to me wanted to know what we were doing
(of course we were tangling) she wanted my number so she could have her friends over and learn.  On the way home, a young woman sitting next to us, ask about what we were doing and we shared.  She was an artist and she showed us some art pic she had on her phone and it looks very
similar to Zentangle, black and white and segments.
I told her she HAD to look it up a CZT when she got back to Chicago.
Now that was fun. Not many folks know about Zentangle but they are all intrigued.

First Zentangle Tile in Rhode Island CZT Seminar

This is my first tile drawn on the east coast of the United States, Hotel Providence in Rhode Island while attending my CZT (Certified Zentangle Teacher) seminar. Such a quaint hotel. All the charm of Old New England but the elegant touch of robes, slippers and big fluffy beds.  Rick and Maria (co-founders of Zentangle) are delightful and I'm looking forward to the classes the next several days.

"Courage" Diva Challenge #171

This week's challenge was very emotional - COURAGE.   Many of the other posting were folks talking about someone they new battling for the ultimate fight (for their life).  Many stories brought tears to my eyes, Survival is involuntary and we all strive to get thru.  It's the climb, but sometimes we fall.

Thank you Diva for sharing this wonderful organization I was unaware of -  BEADS OF COURAGE
                                                           These are her sons beads.
which provides an arts in medicine program for children going through serious illness. Glass beads, each representing a different treatment milestone, are given to the child by their professional health care provider to add to their Beads of Courage collection throughout their treatment.  Never forget the journey and this makes it very visual to see how far you have come and to help friends and family see the climb of courage.

Weekly Diva Challenge: #170 UMT "Bugle"

Each week I can hardly wait to check my computer on Monday morning
to see what the new Weekly Diva Challenge is. I've been tangling since April 2013.
I'm a newbe (since Feb) to blogging, super new to the Diva Challenge (just a couple months)
plus,  this is my very first UMT (use my tangle) challenge.
I kept looking at this challenge. Hmmmmm
I haven't tried this particular pattern "Bugles" by Joyce Evans.
What I finally saw was a waterfall.  So hence, my tropical waterfall look of patterns.
I took my finished tile outside to one of my water fountains and got a nice shadow from
my palm trees across it. They don't call me Tiki Tangles for nothin'...
Thanks Joyce for a fun pattern.

Please check website to see other tiles created by amazing folks that love Zentangle.
