Poway Library Zentangle Fish class

On 3/25/17,  I taught a Zentangle Art Method class introducing a ZIA (Zentangle Inspired Art) at the Poway Library in Poway, Calfornia.  The library has a beautiful room to get into the Zen Zone while "tangling".  I explained to all those new students to the Zentangle Art Method today, that a ZIA is not the typical abstract Zentangle Method, but an extension of one of the many "other" type of classes I teach with the Zentangle Art Method in mind.

Todays project was a ZIA - Zentangle Fish.
These were several of the 18 "tiles" that were drawn today.  Didn't they do great?

We had multi-generations of ages.  That is what I love about this art.  All ages can complete this art  together.  Great way to spend time with the entire family.  Yes, even men like to tangle.

I brought my hubby, Tom and my step mother, Sharon to class with me today.  Tom went to Costco during class, and my step mom assisted with passing out supplies, set up and break down before.  After class, we took the opportunity of location to head to 4S Ranch (a very nice area near San Diego) to eat our favorite Mexican food.  There are several Miguel's in the San Diego area, this one is particularly nice.  Yummy yummy to my tummy.

Weekly Diva Challenge #308

Weekly Challenge #308: "MacNCheese"  (by Laura Harms - I am the Diva)

"So this week on the zentangle blog Rick and Maria wrote about comfort tangles and going back to the basics.  It really hit home with me because I often feel a lot of pressure to come up with something exciting and NEW each week.... instead of remembering the reason I started this blog in the first place - which was as a place of inspiration and a place of motivation.  There are eleventy-billion named tangles and named variations of tangles out there.  And there are more and more being posted each day.  It's so hard to keep up, and sometimes the more complex they are the more stressful they become because there's more opportunities for"doing it wrong".  Sometimes you just want to relax and let your pen dance across the page, and do what flows naturally from you."

When the CZT's get together in San Diego, we often say, let's get back to basic. Corner dots, string and tangle.

Laura's challenge this week was to use your MacNCheese tangle (favorite or go to tangle).  From the first day I first learned 'Nzepple, I loved it and four years later, still my "go to" tangle.

Using a black tile, and Neon Gelly roll pens... adding some Bales for contrast, I think I like it !

Come on now, what's yours?

Monday CZT & Friends Zentangle Club

San Diego Monday Zentangle Club for CZTs and friends at Rancho Bernardo Winery.  Most of the little shops are closed today, so the perfect place for a Zen(tangle) day with a good group of folks.

Today, many of us brought our "give away" crafts supplies we didn't want anymore and traded with someone else's treasures.  Like Christmas in March.  Thanks for all the goodies.

We also did a project today.  Take a tile, draw a string, pass it to the left and tangle.  You never know what you are going to get until you are finished.  I think they turned out marvelous.

#305 Weekly Diva Challenge "Duo Tangle"

If you ever have a "blank" on what to "tangle", pick one of the weekly challenges that are out to and complete the suggestion.

This is the weekly DIVA CHALLENGE.  #305 weekly Diva Challenge "Duo Tangle".  The suggestion is to take two orginal Zentangle Patterns and create a tile.  Marasu vs Molygon.

Here is my interpretation of Diva Challlenge #305. I used a tan tile black, brown and white Gelly roll pen.

Tierrasanta Library Introduction to Zentangle Art Method

What a quaint library in Tierrasanta San Diego, California.
Last night, eight folks joined me to start their Zentangle journey

Favorite part of class for me, as always, not one person knew what Zentangle was before class
... and at the end I left them thirsty for more.
If you have been intimidated by art in the past.. this class is for you.
No experience necessary, no mistakes!!!

During the hour class we completed one tile (that's what Zentangle calls the paper) and the students learned five different tangles (that's what Zentangle calls the patterns).  The names of the tangles I taught today  were Crescent Moon, Hollibaugh, Cubine, Poke Root, Poke Leaf.  All the patterns have there own names.  So many tangles, so little time.  You can literally learn a new patterns everyday of the year.

This simple tile below, is just the beginning of what you can do with Zentangle Art Method.  I call Introduction to Zentangle,  Kindergarten Zentangle.  I teach about 30 different classes with the Zentangle Method.  Go to classes above to see classes coming up and all the fun you can have with this art method.

The center tile on this page was drawn by a young girl on our apprentice tile (just a little larger for the kiddo's).  Didn't she do a great job.

The class always has fun looking at each other's art and the interpretation of "no mistakes" in Zentangle art.
