Crest Library Gets Tangled Up In Zentangle

This was my second visit to Crest Library to share The Zentangel Method.  This library was in a little tiny town on top of the mountain in El Cajon, California.  It could have been Mayberry RFD (Andy Griffith show).  Everyone in class was new to Zentangle.  Six happy tanglers.

To begin a Zentangle tile: apply 4 dots in corners - connect dots, add string … then add patterns (we call them tangles). Strings are the beginning/foundation of a basic Zentangle tile. The string is a gentle reminder where to apply the patterns.  The string is drawn with pencil.  The pencil lines usually disappear when tangles are applied.

One of the many wonderful things about The Zentangle Method, it intentionally eliminates the thinking, the planning, the decision making that often stymies creativity.  Zentangle takes the "hard" out of art.  We don't have to consider, what will I use to draw, how big will I make it, what should I draw?

This is Ricky.  He was so cute.  Very talkative before class but during class, so quiet as he did a little tangling and then made his own tangles, read books.  Once he looked up at my tile on the screen, he said "that's beautiful".

Thanks Shannon, library Manager, for the invite to share Zentangle.  Happy tangling.
